Bham Transportation: We Need Trolleys!

Apparently in an attempt to mobilize citizens to the coming domed stadium, Mayor Langford has vowed to continue investing in a downtown transportation center.

“More than a decade after the project was proposed, the city of Birmingham has the money to complete a downtown intermodal transportation hub, Mayor Larry Langford told members of the City Council today.

The facility would be a central station for Amtrak trains, public transportation, Greyhound buses, taxis and a proposed trolley system.”

Langford has been quoted several times as noting that the trolley lines are already here and that we just need to “dig them up”. I just hope real life trolleys are as neat as they are in my imagination.
